How To Be Safe When Selling Your Stuff Online

Who Invented Soccer? The History of a Game Loved by So Many

Soccer is arguably the most popular sport in the world, with millions of fans across different countries. But have you ever wondered who invented soccer? Diving deep into the origins of this game has often been the pathway to confusion for many experts.

Some form of game involving kicking a ball around has existed in virtually all continents, so it’s hard to pin down who invented soccer and how it evolved into the modern version that we’re familiar with today. Curious how the ball for soccer got rolling? Here’s a quick history lesson for you.

Who Invented Soccer?

Soccer

This is a difficult question because, over the years, soccer has been called many things and played in many different ways. Today, the majority of the world calls it football, except for a few countries like the United States and Ireland that call it soccer.

There have been numerous variations of the game such as rugby and American soccer that allow the use of hands. Add to that, the game has been played for thousands of years, so it’s hard to say exactly who created or invented this sport.

What Were the Early Forms of Football?

Records of early forms of football can be traced back over 2,000 years to ancient China, Rome, Greece, Mesoamerica, and England.

The ancient Chinese called it “Cuju” or “Tsu Chu,” and the game was played using feet only, much like soccer. Players at the time used it to demonstrate their skills at handling and maneuvering the ball.

In ancient Greece, it was called “Episkyros.” This game, however, was played quite violently and the use of hands was allowed. Episkyros was later adapted by the Romans as a sport to entertain the aristocrats, similar to chariot races and gladiator fights. The Romans called it “Harpastum,” and it’s believed that many players died in-game.

Early Mix of Soccer & Rugby

Before soccer was reinvented with various rules, such as no touching the ball and penalties for tackling, it was a mix of typical rugby and soccer.

Hands were allowed, tackling was permitted, the size of the ball was undefined, and there was no limit to the number of players a team could have. It was the establishment of the Football Association in 1863 that separated soccer from rugby.

How Was Soccer Invented?

Invented

Modern soccer with the rules it is played by across the world today originated in England in 1848.

Soccer or football was growing in popularity in the United Kingdom, especially among the younger generation of aristocrats.

After a lot of debate and discussion about the best ways to have a fair game of soccer, students at the University of Cambridge came together and wrote the first-ever set of rules. It was a list of 11 rules that included a lot of specific details such as defining what constitutes a “goal” and not allowing players to tackle or push one another with their hands.

However, in 1863, numerous English football club leaders gathered at a London freemasons tavern to revise the rules once more after all the trials and errors of the previous rules. Together, they formed the Football Association and published an official rulebook that’s still in use today.

When Was Soccer Invented?

The origins of soccer can be traced back to the Han Dynasty of China in the 3rd Century BCE. It was a military ball game that they called “Tsu Chu.”

In this era, balls were made using animal hides stuffed with hair and feathers. This is the earliest known record of football to date. In Mandarin, the word “Tsu Chu” means kicking a ball.

The English and European Soccer Beginnings

Throughout history, soccer has spread or existed in some form in all parts of the world. It has existed in England for a very long time although the game was considered more of a nuisance than entertainment, even prohibited in some areas.

However, around the 19th Century, soccer was reinvented and grew to prominence in England.

First Soccer Clubs

Clubs

Sheffield Football Club is recognized as the oldest football in the world by the Football Association and FIFA. It was formed in 1857 and used its own rules for the game, not adapting the Football Association’s rules until 1877.

Some sources, however, dispute that the Cambridge University Association Football Club was the first soccer club now using association rules. But there’s a lot of uncertainty about the precise date of origin, so it’s not officially recognized as the oldest.

The First Professional Players

The first professional soccer tournament was organized by the Football Association in 1867 and had 12 participating clubs. However, this number quickly shot up around the time of the next tournament. And as soon as the first professional players began acquiring fame, fans, and wealth, the competition expanded rapidly.

Soccer Growth

Growth

Soccer has grown a lot since the Football Association days. The first professional tournament was watched by 4,000 people at the Hamilton Crescent.

But once football started gaining more worldwide recognition, the size of the competition grew exponentially. By 1873, it was already popular in other parts of Europe and South America.

Today, it is mostly governed by FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association) that was formed in 1904 by signatories from all over Europe. FIFA was formed to host an array of international competitions for countries to peacefully compete and showcase their best team lineups.

Where Is Soccer Today?

Association Football is now the world’s most popular sport and worth over USD 600 Billion worldwide. The last Football World Cup was watched by over 3.5 billion people worldwide. Its fanbase is so large that virtually 1 out of every 2 people in the world is a soccer fan.

The 6 Best HP Lovecraft Movies You Must Watch

Howard Phillips Lovecraft was one of the most popular American writers of horror, fantasy, weird, and science stories, most of which have since been adapted into films. He was best known for his famous body of work, which was later referred to as Cthulhu Mythos.

If you would like to watch some of his movies, this article offers you the 6 best HP Lovecraft movies.

Who Is HP Lovecraft?

Lovecraft

Born on August 20th, 1890 in Providence, Rhode Island, United States, Howard Phillips Lovecraft was a celebrated American writer who specialized in writing bizarre and ghoulish short novels and stories.

In fact, he is widely referred to as the master of the Gothic tale of terror of the 20th century. Since his childhood, HP Lovecraft had an extraordinary interest in science, but his lifelong poor health couldn’t allow him to attend college.

Lovecraft made his living as a ghostwriter and rewriter, spending most of his life in isolation and poverty. His literature became even more famous when he died. Most of his short stories were featured in the magazine Weird Tales since 1923.

His Cthulhu Mythos series of tales describe the experience of ordinary New Englanders when they encountered horrific beings of celestial origin. These stories blend his intimate understanding of New England’s topography and culture with intricate original mythology.

Other short stories that were written by Lovecraft deal with similarly scary marvels in which horror and gloomy fantasy acquire unanticipated credibility.

Some of his best short novels include The Case of Charles Dexter Ward (written in 1927 and published after his death in 1941), At the Mountains of Madness (written in 1931 and published in 1936), and The Shadow over Innsmouth (written in 1931 and published in 1936).

Lovecraft was considered a master of lyrical language, and he achieved remarkably high literary standards, especially in his fictional genre.

All through his adult life, Lovecraft couldn’t support himself from the little income he earned as an author and editor. Actually, very few people knew him during his lifetime, and was almost solely published in pulp magazines. But he is now regarded as one of the most noteworthy 20th-century authors of mystical horror fiction.

His fame came after the literary and scholarly resurgence that started in the 1970s and 1980s. This led to an increased number of critical and academic discussions of his life and works.

At the same time, there was an emergence of numerous adaptations and works that were based on or influenced by his writings. These adaptations form the basis of the Cthulhu Mythos, which utilizes Lovecraft’s characters, setting, and subjects.

Commonly referred to as “cosmic horror,” Lovecraft’s horror genre mainly focuses on the idea that mankind is a trivial speck of dust in the universe.

His writings seemed to suggest that human beings would be defenseless if an unforeseen threat from outer space, another dimension, or even beneath our feet — possibly a primeval deity from the unexplored depths of the ocean — presents itself at any time.

He also suggested that mankind would be unable to understand these unnatural occurrences or ghostly forces. In short, Lovecraft explored the fear of the unknown.

Which Film Was Originally Based On HP Lovecraft’s Short Story?

Which Film

Without a doubt, the work of Lovecraft has influenced many artists, authors, and filmmakers. For instance, H.R. Giger — the artist who created the space creature from Alien — named one of his art books after the Necronomicon, a black magic book that repeatedly appeared in Lovecraft’s works. Another horror author, Stephen King, once said that Lovecraft “opened the way for me.”

Also, director Guillermo del Toro, a self-proclaimed super-fan, together with producer James Cameron and celebrity Tom Cruise, wanted to adapt At The Mountain of Madness, and the project had Lovecraft fans salivating, but unfortunately, it was scrapped when the studio got cold feet about the R rating. All they can do now is hope that Del Toro’s dream project will get back on its track one day.

Speaking of Cthulhu Mythos, one of Lovecraft’s most famous mythologies, you might spot a familiar tentacle-faced leviathan if you watch the tail end of Underwater starring Kristen Stewart. Lovecraft’s inspiration is everywhere.

According to the British Film Institute, films such as Ridley Scott’s Alien and Prometheus, Alex Garland’s Annihilation, and John Carpenter’s The Thing and In The Mouth of Madness all convey heavy Lovecraftian vibes.

Also, HBO’s Lovecraft Country, which is based on a novel with a similar name by Matt Ruff, explores themes that have the legendary author’s fingerprints all over them.

Over the last five decades or so, there have been tons of adaptations of Lovecraft’s work. Some of the best and most famous movies based on his literature were particularly done in the 1980s and 1990s.

Six Best HP Lovecraft Movies

Here’s a look at some of the most prominent Lovecraft movie adaptations that are worth your time and money.

1. Color Out of Space

Color Out of Space

This film is based on Lovecraft’s short story “Color Out of Space”. It is a cosmic horror story about the bizarre occurrences that follow when a meteorite crash lands in the front yard of the Gardner family’s homestead. It features Nicolas Cage, who stars as Nathan, a dad who loves growing tomatoes and rearing alpacas.

The film also features Madeleine Arthur as Lavinia, his Wiccan daughter who is interested in the occult.

2. Re-Animator

Re-Animator

This film is arguably one of the most celebrated Lovecraft adaptations. The late Stuart Gordon’s 1985 cult classic offers a modernized (and pleasantly twisted and awkward) take on the serialized short story “Herbert West—Reanimator.” It is also the first of five Lovecraft adaptations that were directed by Gordon in his career in film.

The film introduces you to medical student Herbert West (Jeffrey Combs), who is known for conducting suspicious experiments with terrible side effects. He was suspected of killing his professor when he actually brought him back to life, arguing that the experiment failed due to a wrong dosage.

3. From Beyond

From Beyond

Re-Animator veterans Stuart Gordon, Jeffrey Combs, and Barbara Crampton come back together to work on 1986’s From Beyond.

As he did with Re-Animator, Gordon modernized the story to a present-day setting. Combs plays Crawford Tillinghast, a scientist who assists Dr. Edward Pretorius (Ted Sorel) with his modern discovery, the Resonator — an engine that arouses the pineal gland of the human brain, leading to the development of a sixth sense that, when activated, allows humans to see beyond our plane of existence and into a matching dimension.

4. Castle Freak

Castle Freak

This is another adaptation by director Stuart Gordon. It’s his third venture into the world of Lovecraft, who inspired the film with his short story “The Outsider”. Once again, Gordon brings Jeffrey Combs and Barbara Crampton along for this film. If it isn’t broken, don’t fix it, right?

This story follows John (Combs) and Susan Reilley (Crampton) who have a seemingly strained marriage following a tragic accident that claimed the life of their son and left their teenage daughter (Jessica Dollarhide) blind. John becomes quite fond of alcohol, especially since Susan blames him for the accident.

5. The Unnamable

The Unnamable

The Unnamable is another great adaptation of Lovecraft’s work that puts together a monster-loose-in-the-house setting and the famous dead-teen slasher recipe of the 1980s. The film is based on Lovecraft’s short story of the same name. It features Joshua Winthrop (Delbert Spain), who is woken up by screams and wails reverberating throughout the halls of his large, rusty home.

He is seen trying to tame the unseen beast, but things don’t go as expected, and he ends up six feet under. At present, we hear Randolph Carter (Mark Kinsey Stephenson) narrating the story about the Winthrop house and the tales of the “unnamable” beast that dwells in it to his Miskatonic University buddies. The house is located just a few meters away from the university.

6. The Resurrected

The Resurrected

The Resurrected is a popular adaptation of Lovecraft’s short story “The Case of Charles Dexter Ward.” The film was directed in 1991 by writer-director Dan O’Bannon, who is best known for co-writing the original screenplay for Alien and directing the 1984 comedy-horror hit Return of the Living Dead.

It features Chris Sarandon as Charles Dexter Ward, a chemical engineer who vanishes into his family’s centuries-old dilapidated farmhouse without the knowledge of his wife Claire (Jane Sibbet).

After a while, reports of a foul smell coming from the abandoned house attract the attention of locals, his wife hires the services of private investigator John March (John Terry) to look into what Charles has been up to.

During the investigations, they discover a diary of one of Charles’s ancestors, which indicates that there’s a history of necromancy in Ward’s family bloodline. They also come across catacombs beneath the rundown farmhouse where Ward has been performing some ungodly experiments.

It’s in these ghoulish catacomb scenes when the film shines most. Some of the surreal creatures, comprising entirely of body parts, are truly bizarre and brought to life with some effective puppetry.

Get Creative: 21 Ideas for Journals

Are you looking for some inspirational ideas for journals to get your creative juices flowing? Do you love collecting notebooks, but you’re completely baffled about what to write in them?

Buying a journal is one thing, but using it regularly is something entirely different! To be fair, if you’ve hoarded your fair share of empty notebooks over the years, you’re not alone.
It may seem funny, but even non-writers can develop writer’s block. Just consider how many times you’ve started and stopped writing in your journal, due to lack of interest, or because you can’t come up with something to write down.

But hopefully, after reading these ideas for journals, you’ll finally be ready to use yours to its full potential! So, here are 21 amazing ways to fill up your journal!

Practical Ideas for Journals You Should Try Out

Practical

1. Daily Planner

Most people will forgo writing in a journal simply because they feel as if their life isn’t exciting enough to write about. But, when you think about it, even the most insignificant events are a part of your life.

So, when you wake up, take some time to write about what you plan on doing throughout the day. Write down any chores, dinner plans, basically anything that comes to mind. Doing so will help you stay organized throughout the day.

Even better, take a few minutes before going to bed to take a look at which activities you’ve completed, versus which ones you haven’t gotten to.

2. Diary

Diaries aren’t just for teenagers anymore. In fact, keeping a diary can do wonders to improve your mental health. If you’re struggling with something in your life, but are having trouble pinpointing exactly what is bothering you, writing about your daily activities will paint a picture of your day.

From there, you’ll be able to determine which aspects of your life you would like to improve on.

3. Quotes

Sometimes, reading an inspirational quote in the morning is all it takes to get you ready for the day ahead. So, why not write down some of your favorite ones in your journal?

These quotes don’t have to be from famous people. Just write down something that you feel inspires you. You can even make some up yourself. And if you’re having trouble getting started, take a look at these quotes.

4. Life Goals

Everyone has one or more goals they strive towards. But sometimes, with everything that’s going on in your life, you can forget what’s important to you. That’s why writing down your goal(s) is a great way to remind yourself of who you want to be.

What’s more, you should write about even the smallest things you would like to achieve in life. For example, you may want to finish a specific book or learn to play an instrument.

5. Achievements

Writing down your achievements is just as important as writing down your goals in life. It’s like giving yourself a well-deserved pat on the back.

Regardless of how (in)significant they are, make it a point to add your achievements to your journal. By doing so, you will motivate yourself to keep at it!

6. Important Events

You can opt to write about any important events, regardless of whether they happened to you, or a complete stranger.

For example, you could write about the state of current politics, or perhaps something enjoyable that happened to you the other day. The main point of doing so is to write about how these events made you feel.

7. Dreams

You may be the kind of person that doesn’t think a lot about your dreams. However, your dreams can be a powerful source of information about what’s going on deep down in your subconscious.

Ultimately, the things you dream about could hold the answer to your most challenging problems. But, if you’re the type of person that tends to forget their dreams as soon as you wake up, you won’t be able to find that answer.

That’s why it’s a good idea to keep your journal next to your bed and write down everything you can remember about your dream as soon as you wake up. Moreover, make a note of how your dreams make you feel.

8. Prayers

Writing down a daily prayer is a good way to stay in touch with your spiritual side. Whether you’d like to add one from a religious book or make up a prayer of your own, doing so will lift your spirits and allow you to take on the world!

Fun and Creative Ideas for Journals

Fun

9. Sketches

Regardless of whether you’re an artist, or you just like to make a quick sketch when the inspiration hits you, using your journal as a sketchbook is a great way to stay creative. And who knows, you may even unlock a hidden talent!

10. Memories

If you love reminiscing about the past, then you should consider creating a memory journal, or a scrapbook. The great thing about this kind of project is that you can basically use the pages any way you see fit. You can write about specific events, or you can choose to add an object that reminds you of something (or someone) instead.

For example, you can tape a personal item to the pages such as a friendship bracelet, to remind you of your best friend. Or, you can add a letter you received from a loved one that you would like to read every so often. It’s completely up to you.

11. Bullet Journal

Whether you’re hoping to get a better handle on your daily tasks or you simply want an outlet to help you relax, making a bullet journal is a great idea.

Essentially, a bullet journal has sections where you can keep a daily to-do list, monthly/weekly calendar, keep track of your exercise, jot down notes, etc. But most importantly, bullet journals are incredibly fun to make!

If you’re someone who enjoys getting creative, then you’ll love customizing your own bullet journal. But if you’ve never created one before, here are a few useful tips to get you started.

12. Travel Journal

If you love to travel, keeping a travel journal is a must. In this journal, you can write down your experiences and add some pictures, and write down your overall feeling about each place you visited.

The great thing about a travel journal is that you can go back and read about your most precious memories whenever you like.

13. Letters to a Loved One

If you’re having a hard time expressing your feelings toward someone, writing a letter to that person could help you overcome your shyness. In this letter, you can tell them how much they mean to you, and let yourself be vulnerable.

The best part is that these letters are for your eyes only, and after a while, you will most likely build up the courage to tell them how you feel in person.

14. Letters to Someone Who Has Passed Away

If someone near and dear to your heart has recently passed away, there’s a good chance you have a lot left unsaid. In fact, most people don’t get to say goodbye to their loved ones before they pass away, so writing letters to that person could actually help you get some much-needed closure.

15. Budget Tracker

It’s not always easy to stay on budget. However, keeping track of your earnings versus your spendings can do wonders to help you stay accountable.

Most importantly, you can determine if there’s something you should cut back on during the month. For example, you may be spending more money than you thought on take-out, or perhaps your clothing allowance could use some improvement.

16. Meal Plan

Regardless of whether or not you’re following a specific diet plan, keeping track of what you eat during the week is an amazing way to stay healthy.

Most people aren’t even aware of how many calories they consume throughout the day, so tracking “calories in, versus calories out” will help you either maintain, lose, or gain weight (depending on what your goal is).

On the other hand, if you have a busy schedule, and you’re having a hard time figuring out what to cook for your family, instead of keeping a food journal, you can create a weekly meal plan for your entire family.

17. Recipes

If you like the idea of creating a meal plan, you’ll likely want to add a few recipes to your journal. Whether or not you decide to write them by hand, or print and tape them to each page, keeping a recipe journal will take the pressure off coming up with meals on a daily basis.

18. Interesting Facts

Every person hears at least one interesting fact throughout the day. But the problem is — unless they write them down, there’s a good chance they’ll forget what they heard within a few minutes.

So, why not use your journal to write down every interesting fact you learn or idea you come up with during the day?

19. Book or Movie Lists

If you love reading books, then using your journal to write down books you’ve read is a great idea. You can make a list of books you’ve read, as well as a list of books you’d like to read.

The same goes for movies. Additionally, you should consider rating your entries, so you know which movies are worth watching again.

20. Hobby Journal

If your hobby is trying out new hobbies, keeping track of your projects is a must! Regardless of whether you’re into making jewelry or sewing, a journal can help you keep up with your goals.

Furthermore, you can use your journal to jot down rough ideas, measurements for projects, items you need to purchase, etc. By doing so, you will have a record of all your work, so you don’t have to start from scratch each time.

21. Multipurpose Journal

If after reading these ideas for journals, you still don’t know how to use yours, then making a multipurpose journal could be the best solution.

It’s not uncommon for people to start using a journal for one purpose, and then lose interest in writing in it after a while. But that’s the great thing about journals ㅡ they don’t have an expiration date!

If you start using your journal to write down quotes, but suddenly decide that you’d rather turn it into a dream diary, don’t rip out the pages. Instead, use your journal for multiple purposes.

You can write down anything and everything that comes to mind, add lists, schedules, etc. It is, after all, your journal, so anything goes!

10 Most Dangerous Cities in Mexico That You Should Avoid

Mexico is a popular tourist destination for its delicious food, breathtaking scenery and landscapes, history, and warm people. It has a vibrant and lively culture that knows how to give you a break from the monotony of the average working day.

While Mexico is undoubtedly one of the best places in the world to go backpacking and unwind, there are some safety issues you need to be conscious of as a traveler. This article will talk about 10 of the most dangerous cities in Mexico. If you’re ever planning to visit them, make sure you have a trusted local guide.

10 Most Dangerous Cities in Mexico

#1. Mazatlan

Mazatlan

Mazatlan is a beautiful Mexican resort town located along the Pacific shoreline in the state of Sinaloa. It features stunning sandy beaches and is renowned for big-game fishing.

The city receives hundreds of thousands of tourists from across the world every year to enjoy the nightlife, scenery, and beach resorts. Mazatlan is a small but booming economy with major historical significance and a lot of fun places to visit.

However, that’s just the good part. Mazatlan is considered one of the most dangerous cities in the world and forms a part of Mexico’s dark underbelly of crime and corruption.

It’s also the home of the infamous Sinaloa drug cartel. The homicide rate is over 39 per 100,000 people. Violent theft and sexual assault are also a scourge for local residents and tourists.

#2. Reynosa

Reynosa

Reynosa is located directly across the US-Mexico border from Hidalgo, Texas, in the northern part of East Mexico. It’s a tropical paradise and the largest metropolitan area in the state of Tamaulipas. Reynosa used to be among the top 5 fastest growing cities in Mexico but took a different turn as corruption and drug gangs rose to power.

The OSAC describes Reynosa as consistently violent and pretty dire. The city, unfortunately, sees a lot of gun battles between the police and drug cartel members, some of which result in the death of ordinary citizens caught in the crossfire. Carjacking and kidnapping also occur at a high frequency.

#3. Tepic

Tepic

Tepic, the capital city of the Nayarit state in western Mexico, has one of the highest populations of indigenous people in the country. It’s also at the center of one of the richest agricultural regions in Mexico known for sugarcane, tobacco, and exotic citrus fruits.

Tepic has a relatively moderate crime rate compared to other cities in Mexico. However, it is still one of the world’s top 50 most dangerous cities to live in. Corruption and bribery are enormous problems in Tepic.

It has led to a high rate of armed robberies, violent assaults, vandalism, and drug abuse in a city otherwise blessed by Mother Nature.

#4. Ciudad Obregón

Obregón

Ciudad Obregon is a city located in the heart of the Yaqui Valley in Southern Sonoma. It’s the second-largest city in the state and is an important commercial center with an airport, packing plants, cotton gins, and granaries.

It’s a relatively safe city, with the police known to have a good response rate. So if you’re ever visiting Sonoma, it would be best to land at Ciudad Obregon. It’s a fun holiday destination, although you may not find the nightlife too enthralling. Ciudad Obregon is safer than most Mexican cities, but it is still notorious for theft and various other street crimes at night.

#5. Chihuahua

Chihuahua

The capital of the state of Chihuahua, the Chihuahua city is located in Northwestern Mexico. Landmarks of historic significance such as the Spanish Baroque Cathedral de Chihuahua have made it quite popular. Chihuahua is also the richest state in Mexico, owing greatly to its livestock production and silver mining.

However, once again, despite its progress, Chihuahua is one of the worst cities in Mexico plagued with crime. It’s a hotspot for gun violence, armed theft, carjackings, and kidnappings. The United States Bureau of Consular Affairs Travel Advisory strongly recommends reconsidering travel to the state of Chihuahua.

#6. Ciudad Juarez

Juarez

Ciudad Juarez is another Chihuahuan city, home to the Mexican Vaquero (cowboy) culture. Juarez is also one of Mexico’s major historical centers as it hosts some of the finest cathedrals, museums, and art exhibits in the world.

Ciudad Juarez and Chihuahua city share a similar situation of crime, corruption, and poverty. It’s been experiencing an escalating homicide rate, so it’s probably best to save Juarez for the future.

#7. Culiacán

Culiacán

Culiacán, also known as Culican Rosales, is the capital of and the largest city in Sinaloa. It’s known for its rich culture, celebrations, and luxury hotels. The city also hosts beautiful botanical gardens, zoo parks, and a stunning neoclassical cathedral.

In terms of safety for travelers, Culiacán is not on the list of safe places in Mexico for tourists. Problems like mugging, violent crime, and terrorism are rampant. Despite the town’s countless attractions, it sees fewer and fewer tourists with each passing year.

The United States Bureau of Consular Affairs Travel Advisory strongly recommends not to travel to Culiacán until the Mexican government gains better control of the situation.

#8. Ciudad Victoria

Victoria

Ciudad Victoria is the capital of the Mexican state of Tamaulipas and the Municipality of Victoria. It’s located on the foothills of the Sierra Madre Oriental mountain range in northeast Mexico. It is home to some of Mexico’s most reputed educational institutions, such as the University of Tamaulipas.

However, it also has one of the highest homicide rates in Mexico. Most of the violence and bloodshed tend to come from clashes between the police and criminal groups. In recent years, crime in Ciudad Victoria has become so bad that armed soldiers have now become a common sight in the streets around the city.

#9. La Paz

Paz

La Paz is the capital of the Mexican state of Baja California Sur and is located in the Baja California Peninsula. It’s a seafront destination, renowned for its beautiful coastal cliffs and sandy white beaches.

At first glance, La Paz is an idyllic vacation spot but its level of crime has been sky-rocketing in recent years. The US State Department Advisory has advised tourists to exercise increased caution if they decide to visit the Baja California Sur.

#10. Tijuana

Tijuana

Tijuana is located right under the US–Mexico border south of California. It’s a party spot for tourists from all across the world and hosts Mexico’s largest Asian population. It’s got lively bars, sandy beaches, and beautiful cultural complexes; however, it’s arguably the most violent city in Mexico.

In terms of its homicide rate, it has been ranked at 7.7 times higher than Detroit. Shootings, dead bodies, and gang violence are a very common sight in Tijuana since it’s a passageway for drugs to enter the US.
